The Process

The enrollment process at Destiny Christian School is designed to give you all the information you need to make a decision about enrollment in our school, and to give us all the information we need to determine how we can be of help to your child and your family.

We have provided all enrollment forms and information on our site in a three-step process.

1) Download DCS tuition form.

Download the current year tuition and fee schedule.

2) Schedule / Request Interview

Contact the school and set up an appointment to tour the school and interview with our registrar or an administrator. At the interview you may ask us any questions that haven’t been answered through our materials or website. You may also want to bring along your child’s transcripts and/or report cards from last year, a birth certificate and immunization record. Your child may scheduled for testing before we complete the enrollment process.

3) Fill Out Registration Form

Fill out the registration form and pay the $100 registration fee for each child. The registration fee as a guarantee of enrollment is non-refundable unless we determine from the interview and testing that we cannot be of help to your child.

If you have any questions about Destiny Christian School or the enrollment process, please feel free to contact Lori Hamel, our Registrar, at the school, 405-677-6000, for more information.

Is Destiny Christian School accredited?
The school has received full accreditation through ACTS (Association of Christian Teachers and Schools) and this accreditation is recognized in the state of Oklahoma by OPSAC (Oklahoma Private School Accreditation Commission).

What is your student/teacher ratio?
Our ratio of students to teachers, including all faculty members, is 15:1. The average class size at Destiny will be around 20 students – a few classes are larger and a few are smaller. But no matter the class size, our teachers develop nurturing relationships with their students.

Do you provide college-prep or AP courses at the high school level?
All courses in the high school four-year course of study are college-preparatory. The emphasis in all classes is on critical thinking skills and expressing thoughts and ideas both verbally and through quality writing. Approximately 80% of our graduates go on to attend college, many receiving academic and athletic scholarships to do so. Graduates of Destiny Christian School are well-prepared for college and for life.

What curriculum do you use?
In the elementary grades, the primary curriculum used is A Beka for a strong phonics foundation. All of our curriculum is chosen based on fundamentals and Biblical truth and reviewed on a five-year rotating basis, taking into account testing scores, teacher reviews, and the most recent findings in education research.

Will you let me know if my student is performing poorly in academics or behavior?
One essential component of an education at Destiny Christian School is the communication between teachers, students, and parents. One feature at the secondary level is the “pink card” - every week your child’s cumulative grade in each subject will be sent home with notes as to what has contributed to that grade (missing assignments, low test scores, etc.). Our teachers welcome your calls or e-mails any time you have a question. PTF meetings and conferences are scheduled several times each year to display our students’ talents and skills, and to give the opportunity for face-to-face communication. We want to get to know you and keep you informed of how your child is doing throughout the year.

Do you have a dress code or uniforms?
We are a uniform school with Sunshine School Uniforms as our exclusive provider of uniforms. Click here for more information on school uniforms.

Are you a closed or open campus?
Destiny Christian School is a closed campus. Students are not to leave campus during the school day without prior written permission from their parents. Visitors are not allowed on campus without prior written permission and without checking in at the school office and wearing a visitor’s badge while on campus. Your child’s safety is of the utmost important to us.

curriculum Curriculum Overview

Pre-School

The Pre-School curriculum includes learning the alphabet, counting, health, manners, safety, science, Bible verses and songs. This is an age when attention is given to developmental skills.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten has a reading readiness curriculum which emphasizes listening skills, oral language development, strong phonetics, and social skills. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1.

Elementary

The elementary school curriculum includes a strong phonetic approach to language in the lower grades, with emphasis on reading and writing skills at every grade level. Mathematics follows a logical sequence of study with focus on problem-solving and critical thinking skills. History is "His" story - studying the past and present from a Biblical perspective. Science emphasizes creation and the basic building blocks of physical, earth and life science. Bible study and memorization is an emphasis in every classroom, as well as enrichment opportunities in music, foreign language, art, and P.E.

Junior High

A strong core of academic subjects and electives is continued in the 7th and 8th grades. We have found that Jr. High is a time when students experience many changes and they need teachers who understand their needs and can give them consistent reinforcement.

The junior high curriculum includes English, Pre-Algebra, Earth & Life Science, World & US History, Old Testament and New Testament overview, a Fine Arts or Foreign Language elective choice and P.E./Sports/Study Hall.

High School

The High School program at Destiny is challenging and thorough and is designed to prepare students for college and for life. Our high school program exceeds state requirements in every area. Academic excellence in a Christian environment is the hallmark of the High School curriculum.

High School subjects include Bible, English grammar and literature each year, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Advanced Math, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physics, World History, US History, Geography, Oklahoma History, Economics, US Government, Fine Arts (including drama, speech, music, visual arts, yearbook design), Foreign Language, and other electives (Family Living, Accounting, Business, Technology)
